Dental disease is one of the most common problems we see in veterinary practice and like with humans can cause significant pain and suffering. Pets have the similar problems with plaque, tartar, gingivitis and periodontal disease as humans, but unlike us they do not have regular dental check ups. Poor dental hygiene can lead to bad breath, infection, pain and the loss of teeth.
The good news is that it is usually resolved if addressed early AND we have significantly reduced the cost of our dental treatments to help combat this. If you are not sure whether your pet has dental problems please see the following list of common signs:
- Weight loss
- Reduced appetite
- Drooling
- Smelly breath
- Teeth staining
