Our Journey with Mission Rabies

Making a Difference Together: Our Commitment to Mission Rabies
At our practice, we are deeply committed to animal welfare and making a positive impact, not just locally, but on a global scale. Through our ongoing support of Mission Rabies, we have been able to contribute to a life-saving initiative that is changing lives for both humans and animals around the world.
Our Journey with Mission Rabies
Last year, we proudly supported Mission Rabies by sending dedicated members of our team to participate in vaccination drives in Asia. In February, our Practice Manager, Alison, joined a team in Mumbai, India, to help vaccinate dogs and educate communities about rabies prevention. Later in October, our incredible team, including our amazing vet Ewen, Head Nurse Deanna, and fantastic RVN Clare, traveled to Cambodia to continue the fight against this deadly disease!

A Record-Breaking Achievement
The first week of this Mission Rabies campaign was nothing short of extraordinary! Over five days, our teams worked tirelessly, starting their days at 6 AM and walking for eight hours through local villages, flooded streets, and humid environments to administer vaccines. Their hard work paid off, an astonishing 107,512 dogs were vaccinated in just one week, setting a new record for any Mission Rabies project!
Beyond the numbers, this experience has been eye-opening for our team. They have witnessed firsthand how different communities live and have gained a deep appreciation for the standards of care we are fortunate to have in the UK. Their dedication has not only saved lives but also strengthened their resolve to continue this mission.
This year, our dedication to the cause remains unwavering. Deanna is taking her passion even further by heading to Tanzania, Africa, to continue this vital work. We are immensely proud of our team’s dedication to this mission and their tireless efforts to make a real difference.
Why Mission Rabies?
Rabies is a devastating disease, and the statistics are alarming: Over 99% of human rabies cases are caused by infected dog bites, leading to at least 59,000 human deaths annually, most of them children under 15. Millions of healthy dogs are inhumanely killed each year out of fear, yet this does nothing to stop the disease. But there is hope! Mission Rabies has proven that mass dog vaccination and education programs in rabies hotspots can effectively and humanely eliminate the disease. With over 4 million dogs vaccinated so far, human deaths in key project areas have nearly been eradicated, and we won’t stop until that number reaches zero worldwide!
The Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) through its Mission Rabies initiative is committed to eradicating this deadly disease for good by sending vet professionals from all over the world. DNA Vetcare of course answered the call!

Our Ongoing Commitment
We are incredibly proud to support our team in their efforts to combat rabies and protect both people and animals. Their hard work, passion, and commitment to this cause inspire us every day. By working together, we are making a global impact and moving closer to a future free from rabies.
Together, we are saving lives. Together, we are making a difference.
